MY FAVOURITE THINGS IN FASHION RIGHT NOW
With the arrival of spring comes the arrival of new trends, and the reappearance of old ones. This time of year always makes me feel creative when it comes to my style, and gives me the urge to try some new things. Here are some trends that I can’t wait to try throughout spring and summer, and some styles that I’m simply loving right now.
I’ve seen utility jumpsuits pop up on Pinterest and Instagram lately and I am 100% here for it. I love how effortless this style is, while still looking put together. Utility jumpsuits are super versatile too and I think they look great paired with almost any shoes, from Doc Martens to dad sneakers to strappy sandals.
2. GIRLY RUFFLE TOPS
I remember having a bunch of ruffled tank tops similar to these when I was little, and I’m so happy they’ve made their way back into my life. Reformation has some super cute ones right now (as always) and I’m in love! I think these are the perfect way to achieve a girly look without wearing a dress, and while still being able to throw on your favourite pair of jeans.
3. FLARE JEANS AND HEELS
I’m totally on board with the flare jeans and strappy heels look! It’s such a chic way to dress up a casual jeans and t-shirt look. I still have yet to try this out for myself, and I’m still on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans to make it happen. Also, can we just take a moment for how perfect this looks with an oversized blazer?
4. PLATFORM SNEAKERS + SANDALS
The return of this trend makes my 7 year old, Bratz doll obsessed self super happy. I remember walking around my backyard in maxi skirts and platform sandals singing Hips Don’t Lie, thinking I was at my fashion peak (let’s be real, I probably was). I just purchased the pair below from Topshop and I am obsessed, I’ll definitely have fun styling these all summer long.
5. SILK DRESSES
Or basically silk anything. I think silk slip dresses are a great go-to option and can easily be dressed up with heels and dainty jewelry or dressed down with a jean jacket. I can already see myself reaching for a silk dress for those humid summer days, they’re so light and feel like you’re not wearing anything. I recently went to the opening of Silk Laundry’s first Canadian store on Notre-Dame St in Montreal and I was so impressed with their designs - it’s definitely worth stopping by!
