We also had the chance to talk about popular ingredients being used in skin care currently, and following the emergence of activated charcoal in the beauty world, Marilyne predicts turmeric to be the next big thing. It’s anti-inflammatory properties provide so many benefits when added to your morning/nightly routine, and work to reduce scarring while calming your skin. Perhaps we can expect to see turmeric in Marilyne’s future creations!

One of my favourite things about BKIND is that there really is something for every one, even our furry friends! Their dog rescue balm protects dogs’ paws against salt on streets in the winter months and even asphalt when temperatures rise in the summer. We discussed how dogs needs are often neglected in the expanding production of natural products. We can’t forget about our pups when it comes to body care!

Chatting with this boss lady was definitely something I am grateful for, and only deepened my appreciation for the hard-working people behind plant-based and hand-made brands like BKIND.

Ever since coming across BKIND at the Local Maker’s Club POP-UP hosted by Oat Box back in November, I’ve been loving their all-natural, cruelty-free products (their hand balms are the cure to dry skin during the winter!). So when founder Marilyne Bouchard agreed to meet up with me to talk about her brand, I was thrilled.

When I asked what inspired her to create BKIND, Marilyne told me how her sensitive skin did not always react well to products on the market, and she was fed up of companies that claimed to be natural when they were not - aren’t we all ? She started making her own, plant-based skin and body care products and when her friends fell in love with the ingredients too, BKIND was born. Taking inspiration from brands like Lush, the line covers everything from body to nail polish to hair, in cute packaging made from recyclable materials.
